Pay
Work out overtime pay under federal and state rules, and how much paid time off you earn.
About these pay calculators
The overtime calculator applies the federal 40-hour rule and the daily overtime rules of California, Alaska, Nevada and Colorado, each checked against the state’s own labor department. The PTO accrual calculator turns a yearly PTO allowance into hours earned per paycheck and per hour worked.
Results are estimates. Exemptions, union contracts and employer policies can change what you are owed, and your payroll records decide what you are paid.
Common questions
When does overtime start?
Under federal law, non-exempt employees earn at least 1.5 times their regular rate for hours over 40 in a workweek. California also pays overtime after 8 hours in a day and double time after 12.
How much PTO do I earn per paycheck?
Divide your yearly PTO hours by your number of paychecks. 15 days (120 hours) paid every two weeks is 120 ÷ 26 = 4.62 hours per paycheck.
